Can you use sharp sand as a mulch??
« on: May 24, 2014, 19:12 »
I'm looking for the best way to suppress weeds in my veg garden, I know I can use newspaper and bark but I was wondering could I use sharp sand as I have heavy clay soil and I'm looking something that will help the ground next year! I'm using bark on my normal garden so could do sand and bark as another option!!

I don't think sharp sand will stop the weeds coming through, but will help the soil long term. I think you need the sand + something else like cardboard, newspaper or weed fabric.
