Turnips pull up very easily when young and won't disturb the sprouts. I don't think winter cabbage is a good idea as that will stay in the ground as long as the sprouts and compete for light and nutrients. I think the idea was to grow a quick crop before the sprouts get  too large. I think I'll give french beans and pak choi a go.
