help pls stupid dog!

 :mad: my daft dog has just knocked my heat lamp off the chicks, there only 3 weeks old and have no spare one, the bulb is not ratteling or making a noise so not sure if its that or the lamp. i dont know what to do :( been looking for bulbs but could be a while till i get one. there in a open  sided dog cage will they be ok there in my front room but dont want them getting cold :( help pls xx

Hi how are your chicks this morning? They'll prob huddle together & chirp if they're cold - perhaps a warm (not hot) covered hot water bottle might help until you get your lamp sorted out? Then they can move to/away from it as they need. Good luck

Even one of the old type light bulbs low over their pen (but not so they can burn themselves) will give off some heat - better than nothing. Good idea to try the hot water bottle wrapped in a towel. Maybe if you can get a little top and bottom heat this could see you through :)

thanks for the replys :D yes there fine covered them up well and were warm in the morning.there near the radiator and its warm in here and messing about as usual!. i will put a hot water bottle in tonight if i can find it thanks for the tips. i thort they would be cold made me wonder if they still need a heat lamp x

I have used the old style bulbs, but not over 60w, it does work well and keeps em warm, if you can find them the bulbs for the light effect on electric fires work as well (and arent so bright)
