[Mark's Sussex Allotment]

Afternoon all,

My carrots look to be doing really well in some shop bought compost, but I have just read an article say you can't/shouldn't grow carrots on compost!?

Anyone know why? And what will happen to mine?

Mine are growing in compost and doing ok so it will be interesting to see

Compost mixed with sharp sand is a great way to grow carrots, so I'm sure yours will thrive

They grow forked on rough home made compost or lumpy manure - perhaps that was what the article meant.
It is fine to grow them in shop bought compost
