Tomato suckers/side shoots
« on: November 29, 2012, 10:17 »
Has anyone tried laying tomato suckers/pruned side shoots onto brassicas?
I have read that these somehow fool the bugs and aphids into thinking they should be elsewhere, and leave the brassicas alone.
Do any other allotmenteers have experience of this please?
Best wishes to all

Cabbage white butterflies find their brassicas by tasting the air and it is possible to mask the scent with something else (examples - growing near lavender, waterubg wutg a foul smelling rhubarb leaf tea)  The tomato scent might do the same but for how long?

As for other bugs and aphid .... I doubt you'd fool them.
