Fireworks
« on: September 25, 2012, 13:01 »
Halloween and bonfire night looming, and I've already heard a couple of booms/bangs in the distance....just wondered how folk went on with their chooks, and how the chooks cope with the never ending banging...is there anything i should be doing for them, apart from stringing up those folk that have to let fireworks off two weeks prior and two weeks after...its always a nightmare time for me, as one of my dogs is terrified of all the noise....just wondering now, how my girls will go on when they're outside.

Hi
As far as I know the hens don't seem to notice the fireworks once they are tucked up and asleep in their coop  :)

I have close neighbours who like fireworks and each year my girls have not been bothered, I went out to check on them and a firework exploded in sky above the coop and they paid no attention. :)

If you can put the coop so they don't see all the flashing lights that should help.

our hens are ok with fireworks. The dog was a different story. He hated the bangs and was terrified

Chooks sleep through them, dogs bark incessantly everytime one goes off!
