I should imagine like most animals they are petrified of sudden loud noises and bright flashes, you may find your hens don`t lay for a day or two, if you live near a town or city there`s proberbly nothing you can do except keep you chooks in there coop, if you have an old duvet place that on top of coop to deaden the noise of loud bangs, hope this helps--Fred

Good to hear above news but I noticed my chooks really reacted to the noise of the drill nearby and scatter madly if the door to the shed next to the coop bangs.
I've only had them 3 days and decided not to get fireworks for my party tomorrow :(. Is it safe to rush off and buy some??

during the day my chookies are sometimes scared of their own shadows! (and pumpkins untill they realise they are edible! ) but when they are tucked up at night its as if they go into a deep trance and nothing bothers them when it is dark!!
For this same reason if i need to give any medicines to my girls i wait till they have taken themselves off to bed as they are less stressed and just take the medicine like good girls!  :D

When the chooks are roosting at night they seem to switch off the `scatter mode`. It is probably safer in the wild to keep still and quiet and stay un-noticed rather than flap about and damage themselves getting out of the roost tree.

During the day run and flap and see what it was afterwards is the way to survive.
There always seem to be plenty of fireworks to watch without buying any and you can spend the cash on stuff for the chooks. :)
