i know it is early, but someone nearby had a party last night and let some fireworks off.

i also know that chickens have good hearing,

so, what do experienced keepers do with their hens, and what do townies do with theirs, or is it just a case of leave them out and make sure that they are checked on so they dont get too stressed.
add tonic for the stress ?

yeah i would be interested in hearing wot to do about this too, we have loads of fireworks go of round here late october/november, i keep guinea pigs aswell and they are very scared of loud noises especially things like fireworks, as they are all kept in my garage i have to turn the radio right up, it works.    Im gonna stick a little radio in the coup   nickyx

I had an infra red camera in the coop last year and could see the effect of the flashes and bangs. There was little reaction at all , they would open an eye if something very screechy went up but no visible stress or panic. Just another thunderstorm to them i suppose.

I find hens don't react too much to noises.  Turkeys,....well turkeys are another matter

I just closed up the coop.  I do remember someone last year saying that they put carpet over the coop to deaden the noise.
