The carrot fly is said to be less active in the evenings than during the day, coupled with the possibility that there will be less scent produced when the temperatures are lower (and it's the scent that guides them to the carrots.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Does Envoromesh have eyelets for steel pegs, and if not will the steel pegs damage the fabric? Or is it best to just bury the ends with soil?  :unsure:

No but you can make some, just get hold some eyelet pliers.  They shouldn't cost anymore than about £15.  I used to suffer from carrot fly, but last year I used mesh and cut any seedlings with scissors rather than pulled them out and I was carrot fly free.  :happy:
