Was a bit concerned at what last night would bring - we had pork chops with haricot blancs slow cooked with garlic, home grown brussels, cauliflower and onion gravy.  Did suggest to The Gaffer that we might freeze to death during the night because we'd blown the duvet off.

But all OK, only wind is the freezing one outside.

My mum used to start cooking the sprouts in October to make sure they were done for Christmas  ::)

I do like them, (not boiled to death, she added hastily) but not enough to endure the side effects. Oddly we can eat haricots and beans until ze cows ' av come 'ome with no problems. Ah well, I guess we have to have something that increases our contribution to global warming!

Have you got snow Elibump or just  v cold?

I hope you've all started cooking your brussels now so that they are ready for Christmas day.

My S-in-L also cooked them for ages in a pessure cooker, they came out grey and collapsed as soon as a fork got near them. Yuk.

We know cook them al dente, nice and crunchy, lovely.

Also slice them and stir fry with ginger, fab-u-lous daarrling.
I started out with nothing.....and I've still got most of it.

No we 'ave not ze snow, we 'ave ze sunshine. Cold though - mind you was 17C this afternoon , so not bad?

I have got the brussels on now, just in case we can't get to England (s'posed to  have gone on Wednesday but Gat was shut and we are rescheduled !)  However, if the brussels aren't cooked by Christmas Day I'll just leave them on a simmer till New Year!
