Prayer to the God of Computers.

Please let my quotes be white like other people's.  I don't want to be different!  I am a good little computer user, and always speak nicely to my computer.  I never swear at it or kick it.  So please let me have white quotes.  I get jealous of the 'others' !!!!!!!  Even the cats on here get white quotes, now how bad is that eh????

LOL

Ummm... back to the onions! I planted them from sets. I think their names were radar (brown) and electric (red). I was quite happy with them, though apparently autumn grown ones don't store as well. I eat lots of onions, so I'm guessing I'll use them up quite quickly.

The leaves of my onions grown from sets have a black powdery deposit on them and are dying. Can anyone tell me what it is and if I can save them.

it sould be the onions had mould spores to start with and in this hot (humid) weather they spread.

Sounds like sooty mildew. This is usually associated with aphids who make honey dew - the mildew feeds on the sugars in the honey dew.
But I didn't knw onions got aphids. Try removing the leaves that are affected. If that means all the leaves from an onion, then dig that onion up, remove the leaves and try drying the onion and use it soon. If it does not dry, then it too has mould. Burn it (DON'T put it on the compote heap!)

Don't store imperfectly dried onions as this spreads the mould and you will ruin all your onions.
Keep the plot cultivated, that's the best way to ensure its future.
