beginers questions re:-tomatoes,chilis,peppers
« on: May 20, 2010, 17:17 »
hello all
i live in a flat so no greenhouse, i have a private balcony, due to work etc am a bit behind with things and decided to try some tomatoes, chilis and peppers. so i whacked 3 seeds in a peat pot and put them in a little propagator thing, so now my dilema is that all three seeds in most of the pots have germinated, the tomatoes especially are shooting up at lightening speed, in a few days time they will be at the top of the propagotor lid so what should i do?
do i split them and re pot in individual bigger pots and plant a bit deeper?
same applies to the chilis and peppers.

thanks

AS SOON AS seeds germinate in a propagator, they should come out, or the very least the lid come off.

Take then out, pot them up deeper and stick some aluminium foil behind the pots to reflect the light.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

If you have enough space to grow them all then pot them all up individually, if not then choose the strongest seedlings and pot those

It will be too much of a shock for them to go straight outside from a propagator, especially as it sounds as if they will be weak & leggy.

Can you get them in a window sill?
