New Ex Batts Introduced to the girls !!
« on: February 01, 2009, 19:07 »
Introduced my rescue girls to the resident mob yesterday with mixed results

This bless them was the end result  :(  very sad, bashed and battered wee girls

The offending Mob just loved it, even the bottom of thier pecking order eventually were no longer at the bottom   and enjoyed a good old dust bath

How long will it take to settle them in ?? I am tempted to let them have thier own house and run !!

we gave ours their own house and run : inside the original house and run.  It was tricky to start with.

good luck with the integration.  :)

Alby, why have you got that trunk in there? It looks great.

They'll settle in with wild abandon quite soon. As soon as they have a full coat of feathers on them you'd never know they where ex-batts.

It can take a couple of weeks for them to come together as one group.

The only thing I can suggest is giving them plenty to do tie up a couple of cabbage for them to peck at  ???
Make sure they have plenty of food so that they don't fall out over that :)

Hi Alby, we`ve had our ex batts for 6 weeks now and I`m still frightened to let them mix. Last week I let them into the big run while the others were out in the allotment and Ginger Heidi, who we now are pretty sure is Ginger Henry, sneaked back in and deceided he quite fancied Gladys. I don`t think she`ll ever be the same again. She weighs about as much as a small bag of feathers and he is like a pet elephant.  Poor little thing.
I think I`ll wait until they have all of their feathers and can stick up for themselves a bit.

Hi,  Stayed down with them most of the weekend ( Im big and butch really  ) and they seem to have settled.....sort of, still way off the pecking order scale , but , my ex,s Tiffany and tango, are now like little puppies just love to sit on my knee and enjoy being stroked  ::)

Andreadon ,   The Trunk ?? just aquired along the way, I never pass a skip without a look inside   and this is the only place left to kep it. Free to a good home  ??
