Due to the poor quality of my pots these last 2 years I am going to give up growing them. We have had blight for both years, slug problems + other things. The amount I throw away doesn't warrant the space.
The answer lies in what you put into the ground!

Sorry to hear about it, but are you sure it's blight?

The British Potato Council have no reports in your area....

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'd queque up - if I knew how to spell it   - some diseases get mistaken for blight, like black leg, which seems popular this year.

And varieties and gradual improvement of your soil can make a world of difference.

What sorts have you been growing, on what soil? Fire away.

It would be really said if you gave up as even in a blight year like last a lot of pots to be had.

I planted Pentland Javelin and Kestrel! (1st & 2nd earlies) The soil is neutral sandy!
Quite a few allotment holders had the blight on our field. Never heard of the disease black leg! The other blackleg, yes!!!

A couple of plot holders on our site insisted they had blight.

Then went on to describe blackleg!

Suprised PJ's are that bad, thats all I grow and grow them on the beach, or at least that is how sandy our soil is, I always get good crops, I had two plants with blackleg this year and the top tubers were pretty rotten inside. It may also be the seed tat, where are you sourcing from? have you tried another supplier?

Yes, PJ is good, so is kestrel, another good performer, your soil might need a lot of feed for such hungry crops.

Brown tubers can be a few things, if you had blight, it starts on the foliage, which commonly goes a rotten black mess before the tubers would go real bad.

Doubt you would peel a blighted tuber to find rot inside, it usually starts on the surface of them.

Can you do a photo , maybe? Are they brown or black, or pinkish brown?

Dry or wet rot?
