Anyone recognise this problem on the bottom of a couple of my tomatoes?

Isnt there something called Tomato Tortrix that looks like this?

Or simply 'blossom end rot'.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I don't know what this is, but  - even knowing BER can have a million faces - I think it is a more complex issue than simple blossom end rot.

It has 2 eyes, staring at you and spitting black stuff through its mouth and has a lot of black spots all over the place and a very worrying purple medusa like ring around.

Personally, would play it safe and lose these fruits, unlikely you want to gorge them anyway,

BER, which well might have provided an entry for some other rot/s, even though a result of C deficiency, does not nec  mean your soil is deficient, it is more commonly an availability problem, through watering and imbalance of nutrients, but you know more about this than myself.

If it is BER it might be caused by irregular watering, over feeding with ammonium based fertiliser (as opposed to nitrate based ones) or calcium deficiency in the soil. All of them lead to Calcium deficiency in the fruit.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Get a more reliable wife/partner    or try growing them in those super big trays with gravel/hydroleca(sp). I gave up on grow bags for this reason - hot days in the greenhouse could mean they needed watering 2 or 3 times
