Coriander is grown a bit like mustard and cress....you would'nt have just 1 seed per plant...if you get my drift. It's sown in volume and picked in volume. Each coriander plant is not that big....well not big enough in my opinion....for an addition to say a curry or salsa.

I sow about 2-3 seeds per station about 6 inches between each station and get nice clumps.

I freeze a lot of my corriander when I get a glut by putting about a handfull in grip seal bags and chucking them in the freezer.

It does freeze quite well and doesn't loose any of it's pungency and you can have a supply of it all year. :D

Just prepared the 1st batch tonight. :D

I do one for about 2 inches, can be a foot even for seed. Good leaf producing ones like Leisure can go a few inches each, same for parsley. Italian giant I planted about a foot apart, same for chives.

As said, can pack in more, if you like. :D

I find that seeds from the deli are great if you want to grow your coriander for seed, and OK if you want them for leaves, as quite frankly they are so cheap and fast growing that if you’ve got the space it doesn’t matter if they bolt quickly. I’ve done it for years. I do find that some of the commercial leaf-producing varieties produce a greater abundance of the tasty flat leaves before they start going all ‘frondy’ and funny-smelling though.

Leaf coriander is used a lot on the continent, and the seeds are much cheaper over there.  I buy mine on my hols if I’ve run out of seed that I’ve saved myself.

This year I got a great early crop by lightly raking in a few handfuls of broadcast sown seeds between my bean poles. I started the beans off under cloches, which just fit between the poles, so it seemed such a waste not to do anything with the covered soil in the middle (and there’s only so much lettuce I can eat).
