For reasons I won't bore you with, I didn't sow any leeks in my greenhouse for later transplanting this year. Is there still time to plant seeds outside and get a decent crop?

I reckon you could sow some now, Alan, but maybe consider planting them in small clumps, because even with a late variety, they won't be that big, but if you have lots, then so what!

A 4" pot of - say - five seeds or so, could get going in a nice sunny spot, and would be 'biro refill' by August/September, and afterwards, a quick transplant into any spare soil would be worth a pop!

Problem solved. Went to a local independent nursey and bought 100 Musselburgh plants for a fiver!

Glad you're sorted. For various reasons I sowed some at this time  last year. They turned out to not be the biggest I've ever grown but were perfectly acceptable and lasted through till mid April.
