I have grown leeks at home successfully
This first year on my allotment they have all run to seed.

The weather was erratic when planted and maybe dry would that have caused it?

I've had several things go to seed this year that are normally second year seeding plants. So, yes, the erratic weather is the cause. I've snapped off most of the seeding heads soon as I spotted them. Those particular plants continue to grow but won't be as large as the others.

I'm sure its the weather. Didnt happen last year but mine bolted quite early on. Have added a few late sowings.

I have some leaf beat plants that have started bolting. Would snapping the seed heads off make any difference? Would they continue to grow, so I can keep on harvesting the leaves?

You can still harvest the leaves, they are just tougher and need a bit more cooking.

My leeks are looking ok  ... What I can see of them anyway .... they are overun with weeds at the moment, as I have done very little down the plot with all this rain.  :roll:
