Lil is the smallest of my chickens and also very shy and timid. she eats out of my hand but gets very upset when i try to pick her up thats when i can catch her as she is a fast mover!!! also when anyone goes near the run lil runs back in the house and only comes out if she thinks no one is there . why is she like this and will she always be this shy i have tried to coax her near to me so i can rub her but she only eats a few bits out of my hand then does a runner any ideas anyone

How long hae you had her? Some of them stay shy, its like us really, we are all different and chooks are the same. Some are really friendly and bold, others shy little things.

One of my cockerels is quite shy and he's the biggest one, but then little rosemary, who doesn't know if she's a she or he, runs out as soon as I open the shed door. she is the tiniest chook I've got, but just barges past the others
