The hybrids are lovely and respond very well to handling once they get to know you. She/he will come to you readily if you have a dried mealworm to hand  :D

As you know I am not a chicken sort, but there is a chicken club at our site and the birds are kept a couple of plots away from mine.

This time last year two large youngish white birds arrived in the enclosure overnight -- sadly both cockerels.

I hope your bird turns out to be a hen as he/she looks very smart indeed  :D

Could someone have thrown her over the fence? She is a lovely looking little thing.
I came home one day to find 3 youngish lohman hens had been dumped in my garden, I still have one as I couldn't find homes for them all.

Easy on the corn and peas so she'll eat the layers, which she needs  :)

Have you had your new chickens yet? What do they think of the white one?

I'm glad they get on. It's nice for the white one to have some company. I'm also glad that you have sorted a shed out for them. My white star (Liliwen) decided one night that she fancied sleeping in our crab apple tree. We didnt want her starting that habit so we got her down quite sharpish. Good luck with yours tonight!

thanks i had a v big plastic dog kennel out for them but decided on the tree!. not letting them out for a few days just the cage there at the door to go out in, so hopefully they will know where to sleep from now on. so will have a good sleep hope fully tonight knowing there safe till they go out again!.is a 6x4 shed so plenty of room and some wooden chairs in on there sides as perches. had a peep at them before and were happily sat on the chairs. o/h has reallytaken to them so was more worried than me in case a animal had killed them in the night x

They should be fine if kept in for about 48 hours. The chairs sound a great idea but if the legs are round, rather than square with the edges rounded off, they may not be ideal
