Is it true that they should be replaced after 3 years?  If so can new ones be grown from the old ones to eventually replace them?

I had a lot of success with breaking up 3-4 year crowns into smaller plants this year - it seemed to rejuvenate them and I had many more berries this year than last. Am planning to follow Snowy's advice on getting some early fruit - my Honeyoye are throwing out a huge number of runners at the moment.
