I am growing a variety new to me this year, a tall pea called Sutton's Purple Podded.  It has lovely purple and pink flowers.  However, even for a tall pea it is a bit chaotic in how it grows.  I have had to loop string round it and secure it to the frame made with chicken wire it is growing up, but it's all over the place with the plants clinging on to each other and growing several deep outwards, despite being planted in one straight row.   The Champion of Englands on the other side of the inverted V shape frame are in contrast a model of orderly pea behaviour.   Is this usual does anyone know?

All of my tall peas grow like that - last year I had Belthony Blue (I think) and Alderman in rows 4 ft apart and they were holding hands across the rows  it made picking fun 

I just loop them up with twine as best I can

My alderman are the same, like you I just tie some twine across them and tie it to the ends of the frame.
