My name is Dave. Apart from being a pea addict, I also have this tomato problem.

I have tried very hard to cut down from the 99 of 2 years ago and I did manage it last year.

I thought I was on top of it with only having a 50 a year habit, but having sat back, (OK gone to the greenhouse and counted), I have to admit to the group that my habit is even worse. I'm up to 110, you see.

I know what my downfall is - it's other members of the forum that keep offering me varieties with unusual names, and I now acknowledge that I don't have the will power to refuse.

So you see, it's not really my fault, it's peer pressure from others.

That and the inability to throw away side shoots instead of rooting them in a pot.

Eek.  What am I starting.  Homebase were having a 'sad plant' sale and I can't leave plants in need so got another 4 Jamie Oliver (!) mixed variety toms at 50p each for a decent sized plant  ......I live in hope

I bet he's off out in that greenhouse again, either counting pea pods or rooting tomato sideshoots

Grans and DD have just waited until we're all exhausted, and then they've popped up and doubled the anti..;0)

I'm of to the GC this very day and I'm buying ever blasted tom they've got, and they're going in everywhere there is a spare sq ft of soil...

I reckon I can do at least another hundred or so, and then I'll be King of The Toms, and will rule the world...

And everyone will marvel at this huge crop, buses will park outside The Turrets and The Patch, and people will take photographs and there'll be no more wars and no more famine, and..and...and...
