cherries
« on: April 14, 2010, 20:42 »
we have 6 established cherry trees - which we get no fruit from as the blackbirds have the lot. I have counted up to 6 blackbirds at a time with mouthfulls of green cherries. Whilst I am resigned to this and delighted to have so many blackbirds in the garden - does anyone have any suggestions about how we might share the crop!

a place near Chard has large hoops with netting over but did I see someone on this site suggest rubber snakes hanging in the tree or did I just dream that

Problem with fake predators is that the birds realize they're not moving, therefore not a threat, and will move back in. Netting is your best bet and up as soon as the flowers fade. And be sure to tie the bottoms up at the trunk as they'll often fly under open netting and into the trees.

If they look like cherries does that mean they are cherries?
