Garlic poser
« on: October 14, 2017, 13:49 »
Almost as an afterthought when I planted onion sets this spring, I planted about 20 garlic cloves. No idea what variety, they were left-overs from stuff wife had bought in Sainsbury's for cooking.

By July when I lifted the onions for storage, the garlic plants had hardly moved so I left them in the ground. I now notice that they seem to be growing quite strongly. Would I be correct in assuming they are the variety that needs planting in autumn and therefore just leaving them over winter to harvest next early summer?

If you don't need the ground, I would leave them.  There is a chance they will grow and then bolt next spring, but garlic scapes are pretty good  8)
