I am a Newbie in my second season.
Can anyone tell me what this pest is that has just destroyed my Leeks and what I can do to stop it happening again?

Looks like Alium Leaf Miner.

There are no chemical controls available to the amateur gardener. You can prevent them by covering with fleece/Enviromesh.

Hi I had that issue a couple of years ago - Apparently it's allium leaf miner.  I have covered my leeks with micro mesh since then and it works well.
