feeding tomatoes
« on: June 12, 2010, 22:54 »
This is really a dozy question, but you lot never seem to mind dozy questions :o)

Today I noticed one of my tomato plants has got two little nubbin tomatoes just forming.  I'm so proud!  I've got some organic tomato feed, and it says to start feeding once the fruit has formed... does this mean you have to wait till they look like recognisable tomatoes?  At the moment they're only a couple of millimetres in diameter, proper teeny.  i'm only asking because I was reading other posts about not over-feeding tomatoes, and I desperately don't want to kill mine!

how can you water toms on a set day. surely it is weather dependent.
I just feed once a week. Water when the soil looks like is drying out.

i would say you need to water when they need it this will depend on the weather on sunny hot days you may need to water twice if they are in pots and on cooler milder periods they may go a couple of days without needing it .     so check the soil to see if it needs it and also weather reports will help
when im with my 9yr old she's the sensible one
