Lost a girl
« on: July 22, 2011, 18:49 »
One of our cuckoo leghorns has disappeared, it looks like she jumped the fence last night and ran off.  Her sister was in the cherry tree when the wife went to lock the girls up and put her in the coop but didn't check to see if everyone else was in bed, so it wasn't until this morning we discovered she was gone  :(

she was 21 weeks old and had just started to lay.

So sorry Madrat  :(
If you haven't found any feathers or evidence of fox or other predation she may still return so don't give up hope entirely.  Good luck and keep us posted.

I don't think she will be back, there in no sign of her or feathers in the field at the back or any where else.  If she jumped before the others went to roost she has had hours to wonder off.  Also there are lots of urban foxes in the area...

Sometimes chooks go walkabouts, but often they dont go far, they like home too much.

fingers crossed if there is no evidence of dead body or feathers, she will be up in a tree or something and come home in the morning!

:D she's back.

She was found on the Friday night in a garden 3 doors down, they were just about to go away camping so they gave here to there friend 1 street away to look after that keep chickens and they spotted the missing sign the wife had put up in the park behind our house.  They came to the door today and we are now all reunited.  The first thing we dig was clip a wing and rename her Twister Houdini
