When should sprouts begin to show on sprout plants?

I have big leafy plants but no sign of any sprouts yet.
First timer, NOT enjoying the backache anymore!

I'm good at blown sprouts
Actually I inherited a load last year from someone who'd badly neglected them, and despite lots of TLC every sprout grew blown, it was too late to fix them cos of their bad start.
Blown is when they don't grow into tight balls, peapod.....instead you get little leafy micro cabbages, all open and leafy. No good at all.

Guinea pigs will eat em though, if ya got one.

This year I bought in plants & was determined NO blown sprouts - but they're just 8" high, so no sprouts of any kind for a long, long time  :(

Tight ground is vital - the harder the better. And they like to drink.

HTH.....I've yet to grow a proper, tight sprout, so maybe best not to listen to me

You don't want the sprouts to form yet, it's too warm.

If they form too early they'll grow rapidly due to the warmth & will blow.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Oh no! mine are forming already! And I didn't know about the firm ground bit either. Ah well, I'll just have to see what happens and know better for next year

You don't dare! Will be here sooner than you could blink. Stop worrying about sprouts. Have a bed of 15, one blown weeks ago, one of those gardening mysteries... The rest have some small sprouts, others don't, diff varieties. I don't firm the ground for any brassica.
