When you see them like that you know why we grow them.  They look gorgeous.

Bet the perfume from them is something else :)

I'm sad.....why aren't mine like that  :(

I think I need a good dollop of muck where they should be growing...the soil is pretty useless and no amount of liquid feeding seems to make much difference.....but they will grow next year !  ::)

I  just dig a trench fill with one year old cow muck and rake the soil back over then  hope the wife gets the seeds germinated OK. The seeds are planted in long root trainers in last week of January. The seeds all come from moles seeds.

Lovely display Griff! :)

We've grown them for the first time this year too and planted them ad-hoc all over the garden to climb up things in a "natural" looking way. We brought a first group on (I felt) rather too early in the year and they were planted out in late March/early April. This group is (relatively) thriving along the front fence and amazing passers by, who think the red ones are poppies . A second group have all been planted out for a month or so now and they are struggling to get taller than about 8 inches. :(

Griff they're fab!!! Like you, I dig a trench and fill it over the autumn and winter with allsorts of cpompostable stuff and I'm convinced that's what helps them thrive through the summer.

In response to that fabulous display, my one flower seems a bit tame, but then Rome wasn't built in a day, was it - manure for next year then!

Truly lovely, griff.

You've inspired me to have a better try at sweet peas next year.  Mum was visiting this weekend and suggested somewhere I could plant them (after I've got round to that part of the garden ...  ::) )
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
