Heated propagators

Just invested in a little windowsill propagtor and despite looking in various books can't find and answer :-
ps I know its a bit early to plant anything yet but just excited

so i ..........
plant seeds put on heat /wait until they germinate/ take lids off and do you then take them off the heat or leave them a bit longer ???

Depends what your growing, I put my chillis in propagator today and I reckon they are in late, was aiming for around Christmas time.

my chilis have been in a week, will be sowing more this week. propogateor is at 28C

Mostly my peppers and aubergines

will start the toms off as well but not yet. i have one chilli a rainbow one just as an experiment really

Yes. Propogators are just to get things germinated, not to actually grow plants in. Once the seedlings are up, take them out of the propogator and set them in a warm, draft free place to grow on a bit. Then move them into individual pots/grow units/whatever you've chosen. Then move them to a cool frost free place to harden off (adapt to cooler weather and stronger light). This way your propogator is free to start other seeds at their proper times.

Mine have been in 9 days but no sign of life though, but the peppers have come up. I've never managed to get a pepper to a decent size fruit before so this will be interesting.

Despite a bad summer I had one of the best crops of tomatoes and chillies ever. I tried tomato Fantasia last year and they were great. I do grow in a greenhouse which makes a big difference.
