I have just got myself a new toy (a petrol strimmer) and so I will soon be strimming alot of couch grass from around my plot.

I know its not a good idea to compost couch grass roots (they will be going on the skip) but whats the thought on the grass cuttings ?

The grass tops itself should be fine. I don't put any on the compost bin which has seed - mainly because I've got more than enough weeds as it is.

ok thanks - I have been reading around about it and I have decided not to anyway.

I think i'll let it dry out and then burn it.

That's the problem with couch - it gets you by both seeds and roots. If you've just got the grassy part, then composting is fine. Any hint of seed heads and I wouldn't add it either. Like everyone else, I have far too much already.
