Peas dying.
« on: June 24, 2012, 15:14 »
My Douce Provence peas, planted last November & cropping now are looking very poorly

I didn't notice anything last weekend (but wasn't looking close/cropping them).  This weekend they're showing widespread infection of some sort.  It's appearing a various spots within the row, not in one patch. It's got to the stage where I try to pull a pea & half a plant comes away in my hand.

Anyone recognise it?

Having trouble uploading pictures, hopefully the'll work in the next post  :(

edit: Nope, I'm getting....."The upload folder is full. Please try a smaller file and/or contact an administrator. "

The file I'm trying to upload is 64kb  ???

I've dug out an old photobucket account, not quiete sure how to link to it best though.  This link is to a folder with 4 pictures:

It looks like the pea plants have a mineral deficiancy did you feed them. They look like they have been growing in nutrient deficient soil. You said they were sown in November...have they been fed since then?

The cause is probably waterlogging of the soil. Is that a surprise.

This website is American but covers most diseases. Water congestion would be my bet.

Cheers for that pea handbook - I'll have a look through that later.

To be honest I can't remember what (if any) feeding they've been given since planting.  Pretty sure I would have given them some BFB a few months ago when I fed the onions alongside them  Chicken Pellets went in when I planted them.
