How do I stop my pumpkin plant?

How do I stop my pumpkin plant?

I have 2 pumpkin plants and they set about 6 fruit each and I have been trying to stop them taking over the world.  I have cut of the growing tip on both or so i thought they seem to just grow from somewhere else.  Is it just a case of cutting off the end evertime it sends out another runner?

SG6 I suspect all that would do was cause a mutation which would really take over the world.

They just make up their mind to get me at some time in the future.
