hi i keep seeing the term "sour crop" what does this actually mean?????

Hello Dawnie,
it is a fungal infection in the crop and can be very nasty.  You can tell if a chicken has it if they bring up a lot of gunge when you massage their crop and their breath smells bad.  It is worth reading the threads about it on a just in case basis - forewarned is forearmed  :)
