Last years Onion sets
« on: February 27, 2011, 15:05 »
As money is tight I have some white and red onion sets from last year in the bag left over. Some are a bit mushy, damp BUT they have perfectly healthy sprouting shoots about 3 inches high.

Can I still plant them for a crop this year ?

I'm suprised they have lasted this long. I assume you are referring to spring planted ones.

This will be their second year and will probably run straight to seed.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I wouldn't chance it. Get some new ones from Wilko - they're cheap and do well.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
