it depends on the houses really - condition and type etc.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Wouldn't think that the hens would be worth much as he is wanting them to go with the coops.  Has he given a reason for selling?

If the coops are 2 years old the hens might also be 2.  I would just compare the coop and equipment prices as you have and offer based on that.  Start with a reasonable offer and if it is refused ask how much he is expecting.  That way you won't overpay for them.

Hi i would offer £100 to start with them i have one of those type pens for my chicks they dont give much space for the chucks, mine is about 2 years old and although look good show signs of wear, when you go and look at them have a good look as repair can cost a lot

Not sure you got an answer there, how much is one hen??  I'm in Ireland and a single hybrid hen would about €7 or €8.  A purebreed hen would be €10 - €12.  A cockerel and hen would be approx €15 - €20.

I'd say £100 is a good place to start. From your sellers point of view to get rid of the whole lot in one go, if he wants rid, that is a good deal. Having said that if he pushes you up to £140 its still a good deal.

Hope that helps, let us know how you get on!!!!

How exciting for you, a ready made flock.
Liv.

You have seen the condition of the two coops and equipment so if you think it will last you a few years it probably is a fair price.  I would probably offer him £130 which he might accept and if not make a final offer of £140.  That is if your finances won't be too stretched, it is always best to have some money ready in case of any ailments with your new flock.

Emotion... just one word... you shouldn't be able to get Warrens cockerels ;)

Warrens are a commercial production red hybrid.  The girls are brown and the boys are white, and all of the boys are destroyed at one day old.

Having said that I think £150 is a reasonable price for the job lot, even if you need to replace the coops within a year.

People have told me that about Black Rocks Casey but where I got mine from they did have cockerels.  I think they got them with the day old hens and keep them for meat birds.  They were only 12 weeks old so don't know what they would look like when mature.  I know you can't breed off them to get another of the same breed which I think is what you mean.
