Hi Folks....

Not been about for a while...bit busy will the silly season and all that....Hope you are all well.

I have had a text today asking how much i would want for my hens!!

The poor guy in question bought a load of chicks earlier in the year and has managed to end up with a ton of cockrels!...oops! So he has asked me how much i would want for some of my girls.... I have said that I would only sell a duo or trio...(although thinking about it now it would only be a duo as a trio would leave me with only one new girl and 2 boys) but i dont know how much to ask for them! They are Maran crosses... i think! there are some pictures floating about somewhere if you want a look.

what ya think....how much???

Hi ya, surely the price would be dependant on wether you want to sell them and not just feelling guilty about him getting cockrells,  :?

well...i had intended on sending two away with my sis, but things went pearshaped there... since them have kept them ( they are chooks that I hatched...have still got my original 4 as well as this 6)...

since i got let down i hadnt really thought about rehoming or anything, but with 8 girlies i am gonna get an awful lot of eggies when these babies start laying...

so not really sure.... bit of a dilema really

If it were me I'd work out how much they had cost me to feed them :)
Say for arguments sake
Corn = £6, 1 bag lasts 2 weeks  so £3 per week devide by amount of hens you have. Times that by how ever many weeks you've had them, add a bit for time & care given & presto :D

See what what that works out at :)  - Just an idea :?

£15 to £25 for point of lay crosses depending on how benevolent you are.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Not very helpful but prices seem to vary considerably depending where in the British isles you live!!

Locally hens seem to go for about £10 each at POL but pure bred Marrans do fetch more.
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!
