ive cut the dead wood from my summer raspberry canes   now the new groth is getting very tall     should i trim these down to about 2 ft  or let them go

My understanding is that you don't cut them down BUT you do need to support them with wires or the like to stop them being affected by the wind over the winter (or at least that's what I do).

You can tip them to make a more manageable height for next year. I do that with any of mine that get over 6 foot as well as tying them in to wires.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
