Asparagus pea - really tasty - a great new find
« on: September 02, 2011, 15:45 »
I found a packet of Asparagus Pea seed in a local garden centre and thought I'd try them... Wow they are so deliciously tasty and just like Asparagus taste. I let them grow a bit too long and they were really stringy. Now I.ve mastered them and pick when under 2 inches long and steam or simmer for a few minutes before covering with butter... delicious starter and quite a prolific grower with good red flowers.

I agree, a very pretty looking plant with lovely flowers and prolfic as well. I love them, but as you say the trick is to pick them small, certainly no more than 2inches long. Must grow more next year.
I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things; right now I am so far behind I will never die.
