Raddish and Spring Onion
« on: April 16, 2010, 23:43 »
Was thinking about planting these tomorrow - would you leave it a couple of weeks yet or good to go (I'm near Sheffield)? Weather looks decent for the next 5 days, 15-18 degrees-ish in the day and 3-4 degrees at night. Also, do you usually plant all your spring onions at once or succession sow them to ensure a longer period like with radishes?

get the weekend out the way, and sow at 3 weekly intervals.

I'd say both those are good to go. But good idea for you to out your location in your profile, as the advice you might get can vary according to where you are are based.

I sowed my spring onions the end of Feb - though I'm down south. I sowed a tray at once, we'll just eat them at various sizes. I'll sow a second tray later. Radishes I sow in batches at they get woody left too long.

i sowed my radishes a few days ago. dint realise I should do it in batches, oh well, Ill just be eating nothing but radishes for three weeks later in the year then.
I generaly just stick things in the ground green side up.

I planted my radishes week before last in the garden.

They are happy as can be and yesterday I put in a few more. Pak Choi is also coming up in the garden bed.
