We've never been cabbage fans, but are being converted - by my 6 year old!!! How many 6 year olds, when being dragged round the supermarket, will ask for cabbage?!!! Well, we had to agree, then we had to work out how to cook it - steamed it for a few minutes so still crunchy, with lots of pepper, it was yummy!!

Oh and crispy 'seaweed' is easy, shred finely and shallow fry in hot oil - make sure it's v hot when you add the cabbage, fry for less than a minute - scrummy. Only do a small amount at a time, oh, and it spits like mad!

I knew I wasn't alone. Now either you lot are as mad as me or Im sane. I can live with either way  :D  :D

I have mine growing in scaffold net cages - keeps the flying rats & butterflies off them. Just a little slug damage here and there.

mumofstig, how could I have forgotten braised red cabbage? I do mine as a layer of cabbage, a layer of cooking apple chopped fine, a thin layer of onions, then some spices, then repeat the three layers, then sprinkle on some brown sugar, a bit of red wine, and into a low oven it goes to stew slowly for ages. Yum! Keeps really well too.

Angelah, thanks for the "crispy seaweed" recipe - I'll give that a go!

Lardman, we're all slightly bonkers, probably, and all the better for it :)
