I keep spare clothing and boots that I use for redmite only and change somewhere private before going in the house and the clothing goes on a boil wash. For footwear, I keep a pair of old boots that I spray with pigeon lice spray - spray the outside thoroughly, put them in an airtight bin bag and tie the top tightly so nothing can get out. Leave overnight - that will kill the little beggars off! Brush throughly the following morning and leave them somewhere to dry out. Don't spray the inside of the boot though, it's not a good idea to get insecticide next to your skin.
