What is killing these chickens?
« on: July 15, 2010, 01:19 »
Hi All
My neighbour has found three or four chickens dead with wounds to the back of the neck. All I could suggest to him is that he might have a rather vicious cockerel. Young chicks have also vanished when running round with shared mums and several cockerels. His birds are frequently making upset noises. Strange thing is that my garden is next door but I haven't had any mysterious deaths.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like a stoat at work, a bite to the base of the skull is typical of the stoat / weasel family.

Maybe his garden is closer to their 'nest' than yours.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
