Hi

Azealea's like acid conditions, so rainwater is the best thing to use, or failing that bottled water with a PH below 7 or try filtered water.

If you use tapwater, it may be hard & alkaline depending on where you live eg London/South Downs.

If indoors, may be dry air, stand the pot on a tray of damp pebbles so water can evapourate and provide humidity. Do not drown the plant, keep the wtaer level below the pebbles, but top up as needed.

Have you fed the plant ? Try food especially for acid lovers/Azaleas.

How good is the light ? It may need brighter conditions.

Can't think what else to try, sorry.

The odds are that it`s a Japaneses Azalea ( an outdoor plant ) which has been forced into flower for sale as a houseplant. The chances are it wont survive but I would put it outside, somewhere frost free, and try and harden it off. Don`t over water it.

Here is some further information about your pot plant, which, as David suggests, is probably a japanese azalea

Hope this is helpful -- there is info about challenges part of the way down the page  :D

Hi

I have a potted Azalea which I keep on a north-facing windowsill in an unheated room and water with rain water (the soil should be always moist). It is doing very well and flowers now for the third time in a row. From time to time it gets a bit of orchid fertiliser.

Maybe the hall table is too dark or the room is too warm, also if you forget to water regularly the Azalea will suffer as they are very sensitive if the soil gets too dry.

Why give your AZALEA Orchid feed, why not give it AZALEA food?

Hi

I don`t want to buy another fertiliser just for one small plant. I have a lot of orchids and as Azalea and orchids both like rain water and don`t like the strong "normal" fertilisers for house plants, I tried my orchid feed (organic) for the Azalea and it is working, at least for my Azalea.
