My red Barons came from Marshalls on Friday, however no chance to plant as yet. Some do look a bit mouldy / not sure if that matters or not.
So I have unpacked them onto newspaper till I get the chance to plant.

Thanks, I hope they arrive soon though.  I've got some leeks growing in seed trays, which I'm not sure I should have as someone told me you can't transplant them, hope this isn't true!

It nonsense.

I wouldn't have been so polite!

But that's Gobs for you, straight to the point, no messing, I like that actually (most of the time!)

Well I'm sorry, do you want the answer to your question or what is it you are looking for? I think like.

They are very clever advising you that leeks can't be transplanted , however, all of us andfolks before us have been practicing that for donky's year's, load oftime waste on something stupid.

Are you sure its not dirt?  Some of mine looked dodgy but on closer inspection they were fine.  If it is mouldy, I wouldn't plant them as you might introduce something into your soil.  It might be perfectly safe, but why take the chance and end up with a long term problem?

Just planted 100 red baron the other day and a few of mine were mouldy and also a bit shrivelled, discarded them to the bonfire pile.
