chilli seedlings?
« on: February 21, 2010, 13:15 »
Hi all I have just germinated various types of hot chilli seeds in my heated propagator. They were starting to get a bit leggy so i pulled them out and stuck in 3" pots. What i was wondering is where is the best place to grow them on indoors? I always seem to have problems with leggy seedlings if i put them on windowsill.

Thanks

Mickeyboy :) :)
new to this, so all help and advice is greatly appreciated and well needed!!

Your lightest (preferably south-facing) windows sill is the lightest place there is so you don't have much choice. DD is probably sick of saying this by now so I'll say it for him; putting an aluminium foil "mirror" behind the plants in the window sill will greatly increase the amount of light they receive.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Thanks JayG.

Actually I've got around the problem of repeating myself, all I need to say now is "you must have missed this sticky"

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I always plant leggy chilli's or tomato's almost up to the seed leaves, curling the stem round carefully in the new pot. It usually works, might lose one or two if the stem breaks in the move, but it if far better than leggy seedlings IMHO
I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things; right now I am so far behind I will never die.
