last month i sowed some chilli seeds from wilkos, they were called hot patio sizzle i think, they now have two sets of true leaves which look the same as my tomatoes. is this how they should look (if i knew how to post a photo i would.) has anybody else grown these, and did they become chillis eventually?

the seed leaves look very like toms - wait until the true leaves come out before you panic - chillies are smooth-edged lanceolate (spear tip) while toms are wiggly-edged

If I understand you correctly, your chilli plants have true leaves as opposed to the (first) cotyledon leaves which in all plants have the same long thin shape, in which case they shouldn't look like tomato leaves.

I think you need to post photos for us.

thanks for taking the time to answer my silly question. what i think happened was that the chillis from an out of date packet did not germinate at all, while the tomato seeds sown at the same time and in the next tray must have found their way to the chilli tray on my fingers perhaps (im new to all this seed sowing lark).  so what i thought were chillis are in fact gardeners delight tomatoes as they are exactly the same as those growing in the next tray.  what a dipstick i am, lol

I've done the same thing 

I did once sow a packet of marigolds and they came up tomatoes, and it wasn't my fault that time but dodgy packaging

Had the same in reverse, planted some Toms and Chillis at the same time, labelled them all and when the Toms came up I could have sworn they were chillis! They're looking more like Toms now though.

Btw grew the patio sizzle year before last - pack quite a punch for a little chilli, heavy cropper too, think i've still go some in my freezer.

I'd quite like my chillie seeds to germinate.  Sown for a month now and abosutely nothing

i resowed my chilli seeds after a 6 week no show and a month later i have them through now, first one come followed by another two a week later and still waiting for more
indoors at home on window sill second time with foil light deflector , a DD special
