Ever grown something you wanted, only to find out it was something else?

I did this year .... 

Sowed some melon seeds early in the Spring .... galia and watermelon.  Some came up and some didn't.  So the healthy ones I put in the tunnel and nurtured them and tended to them with lots of TLC.  Suddenly, something started to grow ... it looked like a small melon forming, so I fed it and watered it .....

It grew really big - I thought to myself, this must be a watermelon because it was growing so big..... it started off green, then started to yellow so I netted it up and watched it get bigger and bigger and bigger and gave it lots more TLC.  Then I thought to myself ... I don't think this is a melon after all.....

Oh dear .... it turned out to be a pumpkin!!!

I bought 40 seed grown kelsae onion plants earlier in year that I have planted and nurtured, and have now discovered that one of them is a completely different variety, much thinner necked than the kelsae. When I commented on my displeasure to the old boy next door, he pointed at the leek in the middle of his Onion bed, which was sold to him as an onion.
I suppose these things happen in the random world of gardening.
