Container hellebores
« on: January 07, 2009, 13:06 »
I have a smallish garden and have some hellebores which have been in containers for about three years.
I just move them into position at this time of the year.
I am thinking that perhaps i should move them into larger containers, but have been told that they dislike being disturbed.
My question s are
A Should i do this and when
B Am i restricting the life span by keeping in containers.

They really do look nice and wouldd hate to lose them.
Any other advise would be welcome

I cut the leaves down when they go brown and remove the top layer of compost and replace once a year

When you put the hellebores into a larger pot there's no need to disturb the roots, just pop the clump into the centre of the larger pot and firm in. I take it you'll use enriched soil for the container so that should take care of the plants' needs this year.
